NYMEX New York Mercantile Exchange

The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc., is the world’s largest physical commodity futures exchange and one of the the leading trading exchanges in the world for energy and precious metals contracts.

The NYMEX has represented market integrity and price transparency for more than 130 years. Transactions executed on the Exchange avoid the risk of counterparty default because the Exchange clearinghouse acts as the counterparty to every trade.

Trading is conducted through two divisions, the NYMEX Division, home to the energy, platinum, and palladium markets; and the COMEX Division, on which all other metals trade. COMEX is best known for its trade in Gold futures contracts.

The wide range of trading markets provided by the Exchange include futures and options contracts for crude oil, gasoline, heating oil, natural gas, electricity, gold, silver, copper, aluminum, and platinum; futures contracts for coal, propane, and palladium; and options contracts on the price differentials between crude oil and gasoline, crude oil and heating oil, Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude oil, and various futures contract months (calendar spreads) for light, sweet crude; Brent crude; gasoline; heating oil; and natural gas.

The Exchange also lists NYMEX miNY™ energy futures, fractional light, sweet crude oil and natural gas futures contracts that offer smaller investors and traders the opportunity for an efficient means of participating in energy markets. The contracts trade via the NYMEX ClearPort® electronic trading system and clear through the New York Mercantile Exchange clearinghouse. NYMEX miNY™ Futures

CBOT Corn Market

Corn Market CBOT

The Chicago Board of Trade has quite a bit of information about the corn market on one of its many web pages.

Of course you can easily explore their entire site for information on soybeans, soybean oil, ethanol, wheat, and all of the commodities traded at the CBOT.

There is even a price feed, although with a ten minute delay I wouldn’t advise trying to trade using the feed. These days there are too many commodity brokerage firms offering live prices with complete date feeds, often free, although the pricing may depend upon the size of your account.

However, if you want to study the fundamentals in a CBOT market why not go directly to the source?

There is just a tremendous amount of information on the website. Don’t plan to take it all in within a few minutes. It’s a great resource for those with an interest in commodity markets, so give it the time it deserves.
